Twenty-two former governors in Nigeria are currently battling to save their heads from the clip of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged embezzlement of funds. The south-south zonal head of the EFCC, Ishaq Salihu, recently said that the anti-graft agency would commence a new probe of the former governors. President Muhammadu Buhari returned from the United Kingdom after a 49-days medical vacation on Friday, March 10. Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo state has declared a seven-day period of mourning in honour of late Dr Samuel Ogbemudia, a two time governor of Bendel State. Obaseki, in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr John Mayaki said the mourning period would begin from March 10. The governor described the death of late Ogbemudia as saddening and prayed for his soul to rest in peace. Obaseki described the deceased as “a fine military officer who helped to liberate the Mid-West region during the civil war”. A group of Nigerian students came together to create Africa’s first electric car from scratch, using locally sourced materials. Unilag students have built first 'electric car' in Africa The project began was said to have commenced in 2014 and by 2015 the students had built a zero emission electric powered prototype vehicle called the ‘DOVE P1’. Olukoya Olusanya and Maduka Smart pioneered the project, and enlisted other students to help. However, during an interview they revealed that ‘DOVE’ is an acronym for Designed for Zero Vehicle Emission.
